On Sunday afternoon hubby and I drove into the city to get a few things at the supermarket and to go to the library. We had some time to fill before the library opened, so we picked up some lunch & drove to the supermarket car park (I know... what a location!!!) and sat in our van and ate lunch :) As I sat there watching people going to and fro into the store....all sorts of people, I was asking myself the question: I wonder what God thinks of it all, people in general and all the stuff that's going on in the world today?
I couldn't imagine being God and knowing about everything !! all the neglect, abuse, crime, drug addiction, sex slavery, hurts, loneliness, fear, persecution, poverty, starvation, war etc. going on in the world and in peoples lives :(
I often have feelings of hopelessness about it all and its one of the reasons I don't watch the news very much. Some may think that's burying your head in the sand, but I know enough to know things aren't getting any better and my spirit can only cope with knowing so much. Sometimes I feel annoyed, even angry when I read, view or hear about senseless acts. I can't understand the motivation behind a lot of it. Stories of children suffering is the worst.
So to return to that question, what does God think about it all?
Well I know He's a God of justice, he's a God of mercy, He's a God of love and compassion. I know it must sadden His heart too. But I also know that He goes way beyond me when it comes right down to it. So as I was sitting there in that supermarket car park with my thoughts, my heart did a little jump, because I knew and I know what God thinks of it all.
* HE STILL LOVES PEOPLE...amazingly, surprisingly !!!! *
He says in the bible 'My ways are not your ways and my thoughts are not your thoughts' (Isaiah 55:8), oh how true is that. Because this is how He thinks, this is how He acts.
John 3:16 (NLT)
"For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone (anyone) who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."
That blew my mind and pierced my hardened heart the first time I ever read it and still has the same affect today. HE IS AN IMPARTIAL GOD OF LOVE.
We can't put Him in a box and we should never limit the capacity of His love or the vastness of it. It stretches far and wide. While He might hate sin/evil, he'll forgive in a heartbeat any truly sorrowful person, who weeps over what they may have done to themselves or others. That's all I wanted to say :)
Be blessed and be a blessing ~ Linda
